About

ME YO

FROM AFAR

Starting as the son of overseas workers in the Philippines I can’t say that I’d ever imagine putting my skills to use as a graphic designer. Yet, here I stand 7,185 miles from where I was born in Luzon, in sunny California ready to create.

My Interests range from the sublime and grungy to the pop and pastel. But one thing remains and that is my love to create.

FIRST STEPS

I tend to start small with my ideas before expounding upon them. However, it isn’t uncommon for me to work with my ideas quite a bit before finally heading down the road. What really separates my conceptual phase of creation however, is my ability to think several paces down the road to see if an idea will be good or work. A lot of times people tend to have ideas that aren’t realistic enough or are too timid for the approach necessary to make a splash because they haven’t thought out the implications of they’re work.

UP THE STAIRS

Once I get my ideas down I then try to do iterations or better yet come up with ideas while still iterating while my creative juices are flowing. It may simply be a test comp or even a more fleshed out sketch but it always is usually at this point if I am sold on an idea or not. Around this time is when I usually make it to the 3rd Phase.

PHASE THREE
For my third phase I do a lot of things and here they are in steps.
Double Up
I do several of the same idea in various formats to see if it in any way can be improved upon.
Idea Float
I put the idea out to see if it will sink or swim to my own thoughts. Good pairing of logic and emotion a must.
Final Structure
At this point my design is sent down the fjords. Either it burns and sinks or swims and becomes it's own it is very hard to adjust at this stage.

NOTABLE AWARDS

I don’t have many accolades but here are a few
